Synopsis
It’s already been three years since demons began to ravage the world, leaving broken families and shattered dreams in their wake. People pray to the gods and beg for help, but they remain silent and ignore all prayers.
However, when fate causes the beasts of hell to knock on the doors of the humble town where you live, you discover that the gods have a plan, and that plan includes you. What would you be willing to give in exchange for ending the cycle of corruption and regain peace?
One life for another. Your soul for theirs.

Love Interests
Remnants Of The Past includes five romantic options.
Leire/Luca, the guard
A fearless warrior, as fierce in battle as their hair is red and capable of making any demons tremble with a single glance. They work as a guard in the town of Sorrol, where they live alone with their older sibling in their parents' house since a tragic accident took them away when they were young.
They highly value their privacy and it's not easy to get to know them, as they are very selective about the people they let into their life. Luckily you are one of them, and you have been able to see that there is something more under that rough exterior that they try so hard to maintain, even if it has been only a few times. Yet you get the feeling that you've only scratched the surface of their complex being.
Ada/Omar, the doctor.
Doctor of Sorrol from the great city of Astian, a place they left behind out of a desire to make a change in their life and flee from the politics that inhabits its streets.
When they moved, they also had to say goodbye to their father, who apparently did not agree with his child's decision to go to be a doctor in a remote village in the countryside, but you have no more information than that. When you ask you always get the same answer: 'I'm more needed here.'
Albert/Lavina, the builder.
Kind, devoted, considerate and Sorrol's star builder, the oldest of the Terrastars does their best to take care of their little sibling, with whom they lives in one of the oldest houses in the area, which belonged to their parents.
With a melomaniac soul, this red-haired person makes everyone see that they're not only good with the axe, but also very skilled with musical instruments, enjoying the touch of the strings of their lute whenever there is a gap in their schedule.
Rayco/Gara, the tavern keeper.
Sorrol's tavern keeper. A friendly and generous person from an unknown and faraway place called Tamarant, which also gives their tavern its name.
Although they have an open personality, their past is a mystery. Beyond the name of their hometown, the rest is a blank page, and the few stories they shares about their childhood are the most ordinary, almost identical to anyone else's.
You've asked more than once, but your persistence hasn't gotten you very far. It's been pretty clear to you from their dodgy responses that they're not too keen on talking about their past, so eventually you stopped asking.
Mysterious figure.
The person of your dreams, literally.
A strange creature you met in your dreams. Their close and familiar attitude confuses you, they know more than they say and don't try to hide it, in fact they seem to enjoy getting on your nerves.
They claim to be a friend and assure you that you're safe with them, but you can't help but get the feeling that this protection comes with a price, and right now you don't know if it's worth paying.
You know they have the answers to all your questions. It's only a matter of time to see if they're willing to reveal them.

It's two in the morning here and I finally finished it! Been reading literally since this morning (or last morning?) and all I could say is, PLEASE CONTINUE IT I CANT LIVE WITHOUT THEM ANYMORE ;(((
To be completely honest I was a bit skeptical because the cover was quite... random? no offense of course, it was just a perspective of someone who hasn't read the story yet, but when I clicked on the page, I was freaking surprised to find a whole character design for the RO??? All of them too??? Like WOW and I tell myself I'm playing this JUST to test it out whether it's good or not....
But look at me now, almost twenty hours later, typing this review even though I'm dying to have some sleep already.
I really couldn't wait for another update, I'm fr will wait forever for you to update, this is going into one of my most favorite IF's EVER and you'll be one of my fav creators too fr fr! I really enjoyed the game, like really, really, really enjoyed it, so thank you for making such a masterpiece! I literally cried at many scene, like the last game they had or when I saw the option to approach the uncle-nephew pair at the party crossed out, like I cried so bad, I could save them if only I choose different option ;(
I'm playing Omar's route today so I'll play another route and switch up some options so that I get a different path, but that's for when I wake up later, I'm so excited! :> Though, can I ask if there's another intimate encounter like the one with Omar in another RO's path just this far? Or is it only available in Omar's route?

To answer your question, only Ada/Omar has an intimate scene for now. The others, with the exception of Leire/Luca and the mysterious figure, will have their own spicy scenes in the future ;). And as for the cover, no offense taken! To be honest, I usually prefer simple designs, and this one is a bit too flashy for my usual tastes, but it was the only one that convinced me from all the options I came up with, and I’ve grown fond of it with time xD.

Lolol im just saying (only on chp2/3(one of those i forget)) but with how much they seem to be dismissing my MCs honesty about thwir dreams, lol, i have a feeling there will be consequences for this lolol.
Lmao! Yeah, from MC's point of view, something clearly doesn't add up! But in Rayco/Gara and Albert/Lavina's defense, the dream visitor is not what they seem ;).

I have concerns about Omar route, what happened with the Omar route? I am actively pursuing him and choosing every scene with him. My MC relationship status with him is "care," but somehow when my MC chooses the option "I want more than just fun with you, Omar," he rejects us and questions, "Since when?" I was confused about that because my MC is so obvious with her interest in him, but he disregards it easily. I know he has a lot of issues, especially with his past, but still, it hurts. So I just want to clarify: is there any romance route with him or only fling/fwb? If he is only interested in a physical relationship, I will restart to move on to another love interest who wants both.
Don't worry, he is a full RO and you're on the right path. Every RO has its own dynamic, and Ada/Omar's is fwb to lovers. Right now, Ada/Omar doesn't feel anything romantic for the MC, they are just physically attracted to them, and what you choose in chapter 9 determines how they'll behave towards the MC from that point on (whether they keep flirting or try to keep their distance sentimentally speaking to not hurt the MC further), but I assure you that there will come a point where those feelings will inevitably change, and Ada/Omar never shy away from expressing themselves openly. When they start to fall for the MC, they'll say so without a problem.
Is it the same case with Rayco? I'm having a bit of trouble increasing his as well
The dynamic, you mean? With Rayco/Gara is very different, something like forbidden love. In chapter 9 they talk about it.
So no intimate scenes? Just making sure i didnt !miss n e scenes

To answer your question, for now I’m thinking on just using this page, since once you pay (or donate, actually) the amount that’s asked, you’ll have access to download the game in any format and it will be linked to your account. So, for example, you play on PC but for some reason you want to change to mobile for another route. Here, you wouldn’t need to pay for the game again, and I think that’s a pretty good advantage. But in the future? Yes, of course I’d love to release it on Steam and Play Store and Apple Store! These last two I’m not worried about because I have seen that the Monaca platform works pretty well to convert Twine games into mobile apps (and it's something I'll have to do anyway to release it here), but Steam seems a bit more complicated. I don’t know if Monaca would work to convert a HTML file into something that Steam would allow to be released on their platform, and if not, I don’t know of any other tool.
TL;DR, this game will be available for purchase here on itch.io. Maybe on Steam, Apple Store, and Play Store in the future, but it’s not my priority for now unless I discover a tool to make it work on Steam.

Are there love triangles or polyamory or jealousy?
The ROs are all monogamous, so no polyamory there.
There will be some scenes of jealousy in the future that I have planned, both coming from the MC or the ROs depending on the route you're reading. But it will be a very minor thing and will not change the dynamic nor the romance.
And about the love triangle routes, I did think about doing at least one (more specifically Leire/Luca with Rayco/Gara) but I quickly discarded the idea because of how much work it would take. I'd have to create a whole new route just for that, add even more variations, choose scenes between them and how the other feels about it, the different endings, etc. It's just too much for my first game. There's already enough drama in the story and in each route to add even more lol. I rather focus on each of them individually and let the players experience the romances to the fullest without a third person in the mix.
Wonderful game! i usually dont comment but i just had to.. When the mc is in the blue coyote underground place and gets to choose a person to chat with, i chose luca. and then we get to pick our preferred animal. ofc i choose cat. and then our reasoning for choosing a cat is that THEYRE EASY.? REQUIRE LESS ATTENTION. gorl i am crying like no no no those are all the worst reasons to pick a cat. it just threw me off because it seems like sort of an apathetic reason. no hate or anything especially towards a piece of work that obviously took so much time and love it just sent me into a mini coma of sadness ;; (srsly tho i love luca) .... (and cats....)
Hahahaha no worries! I gotta be honest, I really, really don't like cats >.<. Not that I hate them or anything like that, but I'm very afraid of them, something that makes people who know me laugh because I have one (or more like my brother has and I'm just stuck with them lol). For that scene I asked people who do love cats and those were the responses I got so... yeah xD

could you possibly see if you can add some options to turn down the background music? or mute them in general? i often have a video playing in the background but there's no options to do so sadly enough!

That's because you either don't meet the requirements or you've already picked the option. For example, there's an option in chapter one in the tavern keeper or the doctor's route that, depending on if the MC believes or not in the gods, you can or cannot choose.
I would have loved a back option- because how much I loved to not mess my choices ! ;-;
Hahaha! I decided to delete that feature because I think it takes away part of the charm of playing interactive novels, but I understand the struggle :') That's why I always save before making any choices in these types of games xD

Finished the demo, I just wanna say it's so good! The premise of story and the dynamic between our MC and their LIs are unique. Each LI has some layer of their character and they have their own charm and flaws too so far I love it. Can't wait for more chapter! Amazing update, was beyond excited to see there was a new chapter. I’m not sure if it only happened to me, but the relationship meter almost seems to reset at the start of chapter 6. Like it’ll be at Soulmates or Love but will switch to Care as soon as chapter 6 starts, whether you load an old save or just play all the way through. Not sure if this would have any impact on the plot.

The relationship meter is something I have to change once I finish this first act, I am aware. I noticed it was way too easy to get a high relationship with the characters, so I decided to manually change it since it's waaaay too early in the story for the MC and the ROs to consider each other 'soulmates'. The 'love' part depends a lot on the RO since they all have different dynamics. Some will develop feelings faster while others aren't in love with the MC yet or don't even know they feel something for them.
Still, it isn't too important. The plot remains the same, and the MC will be on good terms with every character even with a low relationship. What matters the most is the friendship meter, which decides which character shows up in some scenes to talk to the MC or who will comment about them and the RO in certain situations. But yeah, I have to improve that aspect of the game in the future, and I will. For now, though? It's not something you should worry about, it won't affect the story.

so I chose to work in the tavern with Rayco and I chose to go back to sleep after the nightmare. Also when I chose what Omar/ada's name/pronouns are gonna be I chose Ada and the pronouns are right her/she but her name became Omar after the first scene of hers is it supposed to be like that?
Oops, yeah that change of name was my bad. I changed the variable to check something quickly and completely forgot about it later. That one and the bug with Rayco/Gara's pronouns are fixed now! Unfortunately, you'll have to start over in order to see the correct name. I doubled checked it and there should be no more issues with Ada/Omar's name nor with any of the other ROs. ^^

Hi there! I'm guessing you mean when this project was a visual novel? Unfortunately I had a problem with the program I was using and decided to change the format from a visual novel to a text based novel, which gave me the opportunity to add gender customisable ROs, something I wanted to do before but I couldn't figure out how with the visual novel.
I still plan on doing it, though. Once I finish the first act I'll remake it with Renpy and add it here. The same with the second act (first text, then visual), the third one and so on. Plus it gives me time to improve my drawing skills to make the visual novel more pleasant to the eye, so that's always nice :D

Yay! I was so excited when I saw this had been updated :D oh it's getting so good! I'm dying to know who the renegade and shadow are to Rayco as they keep calling him pretender and also the renegade seems to think we look like someone from his past maybe? Its just so intriguing! I did find two errors at least I think they are since I'm with Rayco, here they are.
The demon is between you and the path to the door, Omar is not here to help you, and you can't fight comfortably in this room, much less if you have to hold the torch up to be able to see.

And yes, Rayco doesn't let anyone touch his wings... yet. Touching the wings of a god has a very special meaning, even more if someone literally kisses them haha!

Wow this is just terrific! Rayco is so afraid to love me it breaks my heart! Oh man the angst is going to kill me lol Eagerly awaiting future chapters! I did find some minor spelling errors but I didn't bother to take note of them but I did take note of he/she errors and one description error which I'll list here.
When omar meets his father. When the king is talking about the sick. Omar lowers her gaze.
When searching for rayco in the library he's referred to as a redhaired man instead of purple.
When choosing who to visit, in Lucas room I ask if he needs omar to help with his headache "No." She says curtly.
When talking to Albert about his fight with Luca, "Well, now you know what to do when things calm down. And... I think she'll see your point, too."
When visiting Omar after drawing on the sleeping guard, "Don't you think these armors look a little bland?" She asks with a half-smile that you know very well. Another one forms on your face.
Omar escaping from Daira, Daira lets her pass, trying not to show the small smile she tries to suppress, although the slight curve that forms at the corner of her lips gives her away.
When talking to Daira about Omar, "Not good," you reply with a grimace. "She's come home to find everything turned upside down."
Here also : “She's told me something, but I'd like to hear the whole story."
And here: "Did she have any problems with anyone?"
Here too: "On one of her excursions, Omar met a girl from Pio Suave. A commoner.
"the same day of the funeral she picked up a couple of things and ran away.

They're all already fixed :D I apologise for that, the editing method I was using made it all very confusing and a lot of these little things always went unnoticed to me. Hopefully, with the new editing plan I have, the mistakes with the ROs pronouns should be reduced massively from now on. Not so much the grammar and spelling mistakes, I'm afraid, since english isn't my mother tongue, but I hope it's not too bad :'D
Oh, Rayco is very afraid to love MC, and even more terrified of being loved back! He needs time -and maybe a punch or two- before he's ready. Until then, he will try to keep MC at arm's length, quite unsuccessfully I have to add, he can't help but to show his affection in one way or another haha!

some of the coding for the gender and names that you can choose for the characters is wrong and when they mention a choice you chose or appearance is also bugged

Im also facing the same issue with the RO pronouns..
I apologise for that, I try to get them all right but I always miss some. I need to find a way to edit the chapters better because the way I do it now gets very confusing and some things like this always slips haha. I'll check it soon and fix as many of those errors as I can!
Please don't apologize; this stuff happens. Even though I don't know how to code, I find it to be quite interesting and I greatly admire those who can do it :). You are plenty good at this.

Slightly confused? Wasn't this a Visual Novel or was that cancelled?
You are correct. It was a visual novel, but unfortunately, I encountered a problem with the program I used that I tried to solve for a long time and it only ended up stressing me out, so I decided to change the format until the story is finished, which meant getting rid of every visual aspect.
The good thing about this is that it gave me the freedom to add a few new things, like better customisation and the option to choose the ROs gender.
I still want to make it a visual novel, but I'm afraid that will have to wait for the future, once the first draft is done at least.
So not cancelled, really. More like delayed. I'm very sorry for the confusion. 😔Ah I see ^^ well I personally don't mind the IF version! Keep up the fantastic work n take regular breaks!

Thank you for reporting those errors! They were both caused by typing the variables wrong but it should be fixed now. Perhaps you'll have to replay the scene where you choose the doctor's gender, sorry for the inconvenience.
there are a few errors when mentioning the name of a few npcs at certain scenes and when you try to select the sword it appears that you chose the magic grimoire/magic book when you hadn't

I'm sorry, this update is taking way longer than I expected. Mainly because I had a problem with the backgrounds I was using, and it was stressing me out so much I decided to change the entire format. I was using Renpy, now I'm using Twine, getting rid of all the visual aspects, which makes it easier and less stressful for me because I don't have to worry about sprites and backgrounds and I can focus on the story only. I will change it back to a visual novel once I'm finished with the first draft, and hopefully I'll be better at drawing backgrounds enough to be able to make them myself and not rely on anyone else.
But to compensate the removal of the visual part I'm currently writing a prologue to show how MC met the rest of the group, and I'm making the ROs gender customisable -which was something I wanted to do before the release but decided against it because of all the work I'd had to do with the sprites and CGs-, and I'm also adding a codex to help the player understand the world and the lore a bit better, and to put all the important information about characters, places and valuable items.
So TL;DR, I've removed all the visual aspects of the story and started from scratch on a new format. Unfortunately I don't know when I'll be able to release the next update, I'm about half way through the writing but I still have some things to work on, so probably a month or two? Although I can promise that after this update the next ones will be much quicker .
