I'm very happy to know you like the demo! Thanks for giving it a chance and taking your time to read it :D.
To answer your question, yes, you will have to purchase Act 2 separately. While Remnants of The Past has a main story, each Act features its own independent plot that intertwines with the main narrative. Although I refer to them as Acts, they are a saga of books. They are all connected and advance the main plot, but each one focuses on a specific character and tells its own distinct story.
A little edit to add: Every act will follow the same process as Act 1. I'll post the first draft for free until the last chapter, and then, the full version will be free for a week. After that, the browser version will be limited to just the first few chapters as a demo. I thought this would be a cool way to show my gratitude to everyone who decides to share this journey with me, and to give people who cannot afford it a chance to experience the full story at least once until they can save enough to buy it :D
as a person who played the full game during free week will there be an alternative way to import to act two or something like that? (y' know since the old save files don't work and it'd be a long journey to start over trying to get the same result)
I've added a new feature that allows you to import your save into Act 2 in the full version of the game. This was introduced after the free week, so those who haven't bought the game might not have seen it. There's now a page at the very end with a button that creates a save file carrying all your choices to the next Act. If you don't have the full version, however, you can still create your character from scratch and make the key choices at the start of Act 2, though some variables will be randomized.
Thanks for the comment! Hope you have a great day <3
what is the difference between paid and the demo? i finished act 1 and thought it would end at an earlier chapter, but i was able to play anyways. loved the game btw!!
The difference is that I'm stupid lmao! It seems I got confused with the files and uploaded the full version instead of the demo. Now it's all how it's supposed to be (I hope lol). The difference for you would be that the paid version lets you save your choices to later import them to Act 2.
Thanks for letting me know! I'm glad to know you enjoyed the... 'extended' demo xD
Thank you so much dor buying it! <3 That is the reason I added the option to buy it through Patreon too. I'd love to release it on Steam, but right now I can't afford to pay the fee, so hopefully in the future! :D

Really enjoyed the demo! Just wondering if I buy all of act one, will I have to then make an additional purchase to play all of act 2?

Thank you for letting me know! I'll update it soon to fix it.
